How Pilates Is Different from Yoga
Pilates, or the Pilates method of physical exercise, is a series of combinations of about 500 exercises inspired by calisthenics, yoga, and ballet. There are a lot of people who confuse Pilates with yoga. In this blog, I will try to clarify the distinction between yoga and Pilates and the various benefits that Pilates offers. While both yoga and Pilates, are focused to improve muscular and postural strength, the main elements that yoga includes are exercising, breathing, and meditation. Pilates helps to stretch and lengthen major muscle groups in the body and bring them to a balanced state. It further improves flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness. Pilates includes techniques and exercises inspired by yoga, but yoga is in no way a part of Pilates other than the fact they both are effectively great ways to physical and mental fitness.
